His cover of the Violent Femmes’ "Blister in the Sun", approved by songwriter Gordon Gano, transforms the track into a poignant meditation on addiction and longing. In "Hey Josephine," a role reversal of the classic "Hey Joe," Anders flips the violence from woman to man, aiming to shock listeners into recognizing how normalized and overlooked violence against women is in our culture. These covers invite fresh reflection, bringing new emotional and social resonance to familiar works.
